Php-Gtk2 is in Zeta....ZETA? WTF?

All hail the mighty Andrei and hardworking Steph - and many others who have been banging away at php-gtk2. They've finally reached the glorious moment of a zeta release.

The saga continues...

Well, I did some looking for a simple, assert style testing framework - maybe one or two classes is all I wanted. The closest thing to what I wanted was simpletest but my goodness - it isn't so simple anymore. Like phpunit(2) it's become a behemoth. So I suppose I'll have to quick roll my own.

I'm insane

This is a rather long and rambling post so don't worry if you get lost...even I did at times.

Shitennou Ficathon

I'm not sure if anybody reading is interested, but for your information is having a ficathon again.

Wordpress, multiple users, and direction

What's the one thing moveable type has that causes people to flip from wordpress? Multiple blogs "out of the box". However, there are a lot of people (like this) who would like that support. (Just like there are a lot who would like some db abastraction) I looked around a bit and found that there are …

Oh how I hate software failure

I want a computer that is intelligent enough to say "hey, my RAM is crap and needs to be replaced" or "my motherboard is having issues, get a new one" - instead I get a magic Blue Screen of Death (TM microsoft) with a useless stop error. So I'm quite aware that somewhere on that machine …

It's a girl!

Baby Day

Well, I made it to the 19th - my c-section is scheduled for 12:30 this afternoon (weird time I know) so I'll be offline for a few days while I'm in the hospital (oh for a hospital with wireless access - hehe).

Still here...

I hate being pregnant. It's not that I don't want to have a baby or anything, it's the physical junk that goes with pregnancy. And unlike some women who have perfect pregnancies and feel great I tend to get every bad "symptom" known to womankind. I'm a freak of nature. It sucks. Humans should procreate like …

The neverending project...

Yes, I'm alive...well barely. I'm currently as big as a barn and my brain is constantly off in never never land. I'm happy to report that the remodeling project has finally made some progress. The walls are up, the plumbing is done, everything is mudded and painted, now we're to floors, trim, closets, and installing bathroom …

Fifth Disease sucks

My youngest has a suspected case of fifth disease - also known as "slap cheek" and some unpronounceable latin thing. Poor guy feels awful but since it's viral there's nothing to do but wait until he's over it. It's not exactly the best thing to be exposed to when you're pregnant but since I'm almost term …

I started making lists of stuff I need to get done before the "big day" (which, by the way, is April 19th unless I try to go into labor sooner). It's amazing how messy my house has gotten, I simply haven't had the energy to get the work done. Doesn't help that the sun is shining …

Coding fun

I've been working on Kalfu sporadically - usually on days when I don't feel well enough to do much else. I'm to the point where it's basically working again. I'm trying to create a nice api for the view tree object - the general idea is that you create one object tree that all modules and …

Hillbilly Baths

Well, the saga of the remodeling continues. My husband forgot to glue one of the pipes, so when he went to turn the hot water on - sploosh.

Ah, running water again

The cold water supply plumbing adventure appears to be a success. The water went on and nothing leaked. The pipes look so much better and the nasty galvanized steel has been removed, hurray!

Day two - Hot water pipes

I slept in my own bed - the bucket and tub of water have been enough for the toilet to function. But I spent another (rather boring at times) day out at my in-laws. I'm glad the older two boys are at their other grandparents for the weekend. They take more energy to entertain.

Day one - Cold water pipes

My older two children are gone for the weekend visiting grandparents who live two hours or so away, so my husband decided to (finally) get the water supply lines done. The supply pipes in the house are an odd mixture of galvanized steel and the occasional length of CPVC in a really odd layout. In fact, …

It's been an entire year...

It's February 16th - exactly one year since the "big remodel" was started. UGH. And still very far from being finished.

Another project

I have been slowly working on making the den area of the house look less like a dorm room and more like a home. One of the things I've been thinking about is what to put on the top portion of my husband's desk. Right now there's a stack of magazines and other assorted junk.

One year anniversary

Well it's been one year since I started this blog. Looking back I had some really great posting habits toward the beginning. Then there were months with only a post or two and the months with morning sickness that completely dissapeared.

There were two birthday parties today - on for my Grandmother who will be 82 and one for my husband's grandfather, who turned 80. I would have liked to have gone to my grandmother's, but she's in a nursing home and I have at least two children with runny noses who are hacking and coughing. That's …

Boredom is a subjective thing

I seem to be suffering from fits of boredom lately. Not because I don't have stuff to do, in fact I have a TON of things that could be done... it just all seems boring. Strange eh? I keep thinking that one of these days the snow (yes we actually have a little snow) will melt …

In the coding mood

I'm moving onward in my "document while getting ready for a release" drive. I've been doing quite a bit of rearranging in svn, something that was always annoying to do in cvs.

String class

UPDATE: since kalfu bit the dust the svn repo is no more...however I kept a copy of the class around for those interested in messing with it - and updated the url

Some more consolidation

Since my brain doesn't seem to be cooperating with coding I decided to do some documentation and planning stuff today, and to my surprise I got quite a bit finished. Basically it involved a quick audit of all the files I'm including in the "kernel" - the main distribution, and what could be stripped away and …
